About This Role

Key Responsibilities

1) Teaching, Coaching & Skill Development

  • Implement the PE curriculum while delivering exceptional coaching sessions to both Primary and Secondary students.
  • Guide students across a spectrum of abilities, ensuring a safe, inclusive, enjoyable, and progressive learning environment.
  • Provide support for core sports such as volleyball, basketball, football, and swimming, with expertise in at least one preferred area.
  • Lead sessions in additional sports that match your skill set.
  • Promote physical literacy, teamwork, resilience, sportsmanship, and a lifelong enthusiasm for physical activity.

2) Planning, Assessment & Student Progress

  • Design engaging and structured lessons or sessions that align with the department's curriculum guidelines.
  • Offer constructive feedback to students, monitoring their progress and participation.
  • Assist with internal assessments and reporting as needed.
  • Support IGCSE PE theory or practical elements, although this is not mandatory.

3) Co-curricular Sport, Fixtures & Competitive Leagues

  • Oversee or assist with after-school training programs for various age groups.
  • Coach teams for local leagues and tournaments, demonstrating flexibility in scheduling during competition seasons.
  • Assist in coordinating fixtures, transportation, supervision, equipment, and logistics for events.
  • Encourage inclusive participation while nurturing talent and fostering competitive excellence.

4) Swimming Provision

  • Support swimming lessons across K–12 as appropriate.
  • Assist beginner, developmental, or squad swimmers depending on your experience and certifications.
  • Follow all safety, supervision, and poolside protocols in collaboration with lifeguards and the Head of Sport.

5) Safety, Conduct & Professionalism

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, health and safety, and student behavior.
  • Ensure appropriate supervision ratios and safe usage of sports equipment and facilities.
  • Prepare teaching/coaching areas and contribute to the overall operations of the department.
  • Demonstrate professional conduct, punctuality, and positive communication with students, colleagues, and families.

6) Co-Curricular, House System & Community Engagement

  • Lead or assist with sports clubs, recreational fitness sessions, or wellbeing programs.
  • Participate in the House system through inter-House competitions and events.
  • Support school-wide initiatives such as sports days, tournaments, swim galas, charity events, and festivals.
  • Foster a positive sporting culture that reflects RGSPP’s values and its commitment to holistic education.

Profile of the Successful Candidate

Essential Qualifications & Experience

Candidates should meet the requirements of either the teaching pathway or coaching pathway:

  • Teaching pathway: A degree plus PGCE, B.Ed., QTS, or an equivalent recognized international teaching qualification.
  • Coaching pathway: Accredited coaching qualifications (from a national body or international equivalent) in at least one sport.
  • Extensive experience coaching children or young people in school, club, or community settings.

For both pathways:

  • Experience working with children of various ages.
  • Experience coaching one or more school sports (volleyball, basketball, football, swimming preferred).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours during competition seasons.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

Capability to teach IGCSE PE or Apply via the WhatSchool platform.
