About This Role

The Role

To provide highly effective teaching of Music, supporting the growth of co and extra curricula music and performing arts contributing to the ongoing development of the Faculty. The PE and Performing Arts faculty consists of PE, Sport, Dance, Drama and Music across all key stages. To be a full and contributing member of the PE and Performing Arts Faculty and the Academy.

The PE and Performing Arts Faculty currently encompasses a wide range of subjects including:

Key stage 3 & 4 core PE

Key stage 4 & 5 Sport (BTEC)

Key stage 3 Performing Arts

Key stage 4 Performing Arts Dance - BTEC

Key stage 4 Performing Arts Drama - BTEC

Key stage 3 Music

Key stage 4 Music - GCSE

Key Responsibilities

To teach Music across key stage 3 and GCSE Music at Key stage 4

To organise and lead a wide range of extra and co-curricula musical activities including the academy Carol Service and the Cluster schools joint concert

To oversee the work of our growing team of peripatetic music staff

To develop the musical life of the academy

To be a form tutor

Participate in the academy Performance Management arrangements

Teaching and Learning

Plan and teach engaging and challenging lessons that pave the way for success in school and life

Meet the needs of all learners by consistently planning and teaching carefully differentiated lessons

Contribute to Faculty planning and the creation and updating of schemes of work

Use regular, measurable and significant assessments of teaching

Set and mark appropriate homework

Complete all reporting on time

Closely monitor progress and attainment of all students and use it to inform teaching

Provide content for and, where necessary, deliver high quality student interventions with direction from the Head of Faculty

Work to ensure that all students achieve or exceed targets

Maintain regular and productive communication with parents about their child’s progress, behaviour and development, including attending after school parent meetings as required

Other

Undertake professional development as agreed with academy leaders

Perform additional duties and tasks required for the effective operation of the school as directed by the Headteacher.

Safeguarding

Work in line with statutory safeguarding guidance (e.g. Keeping Children Safe in Education, Prevent) and our safeguarding and child protection policies

Promote the safeguarding of all pupils in the school

To undertake tasks of a similar nature and level, as directed by the Headteacher.
