KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver engaging and thoughtfully crafted Portuguese lessons that adhere to the Cambridge curriculum and the school’s academic standards.

Promote language acquisition, cross-cultural understanding, and effective communication skills through exemplary teaching methods.

•
Monitor, assess, and report on student progress accurately, ensuring high academic standards are upheld.

•
Participate in curriculum development and the ongoing improvement of work schemes, resources, and assessment techniques.

•
Work collaboratively with colleagues in the Modern Foreign Languages Department to strengthen pedagogical practices and engage in continual professional development.

•
Utilize inclusive teaching strategies that cater to students of varying abilities, including those with diverse learning needs.

•
Enhance the MFL co-curricular offerings through clubs, cultural activities, competitions, and various enrichment experiences.

•
Support the pastoral care of students, encouraging resilience, well-being, and a passion for language learning.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

•
A recognized teaching qualification and a degree in Portuguese Language, Linguistics, or a closely related field.

•
Substantial experience in teaching Portuguese as a foreign language, preferably in an international school or within a Cambridge curriculum setting.

•
In-depth subject knowledge and a passion for inspiring students to engage with the Portuguese language and its culture.

•
Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.

•
A reflective and innovative mindset with a dedication to continuous professional development.

•
Proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish or French is a significant advantage.
