About This Role

Teacher of Mathematics

We are in search of an enthusiastic and academically-focused teacher to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of Akademeia High School, an established international institution now in its ninth year of operation. You will become a member of a supportive and inclusive community where both students and staff thrive while fostering a shared passion for learning.

About Akademeia:

Akademeia High School is a selective academic institution located in Warsaw, offering IGCSEs and A Levels alongside unique Akademeia Assessed Courses. Many of our students are preparing for admission to prestigious universities such as Oxbridge, Russell Group, and Ivy League institutions, as well as renowned architecture, art, and music schools. With a rigorous admissions process and A Level classes structured like undergraduate seminars, we follow a pre-university model. Our robust scholarship program allocates 10% of places for merit-based, partial, and full scholarships. Additionally, in partnership with the Akademeia High School Foundation, we support various educational outreach and community engagement initiatives.

About the job:

In this role, you will have the opportunity to engage with some of the most intellectually curious young minds, inspiring them through innovative and creative lessons in small classes of no more than 12 students.

You will join a dedicated team of 10 passionate mathematicians who regularly collaborate and share resources and strategies to engage our students. Our commitment to a student-centered approach promotes critical thinking and problem-solving skills, equipping students for academic achievement and lifelong learning.

The mathematics department is vibrant, hosting frequent CPD workshops and departmental meetings. We embrace a variety of teaching styles and actively promote peer-to-peer learning through lesson observations and constructive feedback. We adhere to the Pearson International GCSE and A Level curricula, and in Year 11 we also offer GCSE Statistics and a pre-A Level program developed by our team to ensure our students are fully prepared for A Level challenges.

As the largest department in the school, we consistently achieve outstanding results. In 2023, one of our students earned the Highest Mark in the world for the International A Level in Mathematics, and in 2024, another achieved a perfect score of 200/200 on the iGCSE. Many of our students continue their education at prestigious universities such as Warwick University (Mathematics), Imperial College (Mathematics and Engineering), LSE (Mathematics), Oxford University (Engineering), and Princeton and MIT (Engineering). We also encourage participation in esteemed mathematics competitions like the UKMT and British Mathematical Olympiad, where our students frequently secure gold medals and merit awards.

About you:

We are looking for a passionate Mathematics Teacher who is ready to contribute to our team's success and bring innovative ideas to our department. If you are committed to making a positive impact and wish to be part of a collaborative and high-achieving team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

The full-time teaching commitment is 20 hours of instruction per week, with ample time allowances integrated into the timetable for effective preparation, marking, and report writing. Teachers are expected to engage in pastoral care (tutoring a small group) or support student clubs and co-curricular activities. The standard school week runs from Monday to Friday, with occasional weekend events (such as open days and school trips) that teachers may need to attend.

Staff benefits include 12 weeks of paid holiday, access to private health insurance and mental health packages, subsidized lunches, a professional development scheme, and support for further qualifications. Participation in extracurricular activities, such as afternoon clubs, supervision of Personal Development Projects, and trips, is compensated. Apply via the WhatSchool platform.
