ROLE SUMMARY:

The International School of Milan is seeking a passionate and skilled English Teacher for the Secondary School, commencing in August 2026. The successful candidate will deliver English instruction within the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP), creating engaging and thought-provoking lessons that develop students’ analytical skills, communication abilities, and appreciation for literature. This position offers an exciting chance to be part of a collaborative and high-achieving English department at a well-regarded IB institution.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Instruct English within the IB MYP and DP (Language & Literature and/or Literature)
  • Develop and execute engaging, inquiry-driven lessons that are consistent with the IB philosophy
  • Prepare students for IB assessments, including Internal Assessments and final examinations
  • Guide students in enhancing critical thinking, writing, and analytical skills
  • Track and evaluate student progress, offering clear and constructive feedback
  • Contribute to curriculum design and collaborative planning within the department
  • Uphold high standards in teaching, learning, and classroom management
  • Engage positively with parents and the broader school community
  • Participate in the wider school community, including extracurricular activities
  • Comply with safeguarding and child protection protocols at all times

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

Essential

  • A degree in English or a related discipline
  • A recognized teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English at the secondary level
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for literature and language
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • A collaborative, student-focused teaching style
  • Legal authorization to live and work in Italy (EU passport or valid work permit)

Desirable

  • Experience teaching IB MYP and/or DP English
  • Background in an international school environment
  • Experience in preparing students for IB assessments
  • Proficiency in the Italian language (beneficial but not essential)
