Required Qualifications
Education & Certification
- Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree
- A valid teaching certificate recognized by, or eligibility for certification in Nunavut (Internationally educated applicants without a Canadian teaching certificate must have their credentials evaluated through Pathways To Teach Canada)

Desired Qualifications
While candidates do not need to meet every qualification, relevant experience and a dedication to community-focused education are valued.
Language and Cultural Assets
- Proficiency in Inuktitut (both oral and written).
- Experience supporting education based on Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit.
- Background in teaching in bilingual or ESL environments.
- Experience in teaching within cross-cultural or northern Canadian settings.

Teaching Practice & Classroom Environment
- Experience with differentiated instruction and inclusive teaching strategies.
- Training or experience in evidence-based literacy development.
- Familiarity with contemporary assessment methods to enhance student learning.
- Proven ability to create a positive learning atmosphere through effective classroom management techniques (e.g., Restitution, Tribes, Positive Effective Behavior Supports).

Relationships & Student Engagement
- Experience in building respectful relationships with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Experience in fostering student well-being and engagement.
- Experience in interacting with students outside the classroom, as appropriate.

Collaboration & Professional Practice
- Experience collaborating to plan instruction and support for students.
- Experience working as part of a school team in a cooperative environment.
- Experience contributing to a shared, community-focused educational atmosphere.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: $93,906 - $147,243 (based on experience)
- Nunavut Northern Allowance for Arctic Bay, Nunavut: $25,453
- Subsidized Housing: NOT available

Conditions of Employment
- Current employees of the Government of Nunavut must hold a valid Nunavut teaching certificate.
- Candidates from outside Nunavut must submit a copy of a current public-school teaching certificate from a Canadian jurisdiction recognized by the Nunavut Department of Education. Applications without this documentation will not be considered.
