We are seeking a caring, energetic, and collaborative professional to become a member of our dynamic transdisciplinary team. This role is ideal for a therapist who flourishes in a school setting and enjoys working closely with educators and families.
The Role
As a Speech and Language Therapist, your main duty will be to assess and deliver high-quality interventions for students aged 2 to 18. You will bridge clinical therapy and classroom learning, ensuring that all students possess the essential communication skills needed to engage with the curriculum.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessment & Intervention: Conduct formal assessments using a variety of tools and screeners to determine student needs. Provide individual and small-group sessions focused on speech, language, and social skills.
- Inclusive Integration: Integrate communication strategies within the classroom to support students with learning disabilities in mainstream educational settings.
- AAC Leadership: Supervise the implementation of Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC) devices and communication systems as required.
- Documentation: Create comprehensive formal reports, structured therapy plans, and data-driven recommendations for families and external professionals.
- Empowerment: Work closely with parents and staff to equip them with strategies to assist students in areas like joint attention, play skills, language development, and articulation.
Candidate Profile
Experience & Qualifications:
Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent) and a minimum of 2 years of clinical or school-based experience.
Clinical Scope: Proven experience working with children aged 2 to 19 with diverse needs, such as:
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- ADHD and Down’s Syndrome
- Physical disabilities and complex medical conditions
- Psychological, emotional, and social disabilities
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in contemporary SLC methodologies and familiarity with specialized equipment/software (AAC).
Classroom Management: Demonstrated competence in positive behavior management and the development of engaging, modified learning environments.
