About This Role
Job Description
§ Uphold and promote the ethos and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
§ Provide the required curriculum while demonstrating thorough and current knowledge of subject matter.
§ Design and deliver engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and classroom settings to accommodate diverse learning styles.
§ Maintain written documentation of planning and preparation upon request. Keep accurate records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans, and more.
§ Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently.
§ Instruct students according to their unique needs by employing effective teaching strategies that address varying abilities, such as late-entry students, ESL learners, those with lower academic skills, and gifted individuals.
§ Assign and evaluate work, as well as assess, document, and report on students’ academic progress and achievements, using this data to tailor the curriculum to individual student requirements.
§ Demonstrate proficiency in the use of media and technology within the classroom.
§ Support the overall progress and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational matters.
§ Engage with external parties when necessary (e.g., Ministry of Education officials).
§ Participate in appraisal and Performance Management processes, along with Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
§ Collaborate with colleagues in the creation and development of teaching materials, resources, curricula, and pastoral care arrangements.
§ Engage in, and lead when appropriate, the school’s co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.
§ Oversee and ensure safe and appropriate student behavior while planning and implementing strategies to encourage self-discipline and manage disruptive conduct.
§ Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a passion for learning.
§ Assist in organizing and planning school events and activities (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days, etc.).
§ Maintain regular communication with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep them informed about their children’s progress while safeguarding student confidentiality.
§ Exhibit initiative and dedication beyond the standard workday when tasks require additional commitment.
§ Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as necessary.
§ Carry out additional duties as requested by direct and indirect reporting line managers/supervisors.
§ Handle administrative responsibilities: student registration, attendance verification, monitoring student organizers, and compiling statistics as needed.
§ Supervise classes and students during cover arrangements.
§ Participate in examination invigilation duties.
§ Execute professional responsibilities and organizational tasks as reasonably delegated by the Principal.
