Position: SEN Teacher – Maternity Cover
Location: Acorn Park School, Banham, Norwich, NR16 2HU
Salary: Up to £42,500.00 per annum (based on experience, not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm
Contract: Fixed Term until April 2027 | Term Time Only
Start: April 2026

About the Role

As an SEN Teacher, you will be essential in crafting individualized learning paths for students with varied and intricate needs. Operating within Semi-Formal Curriculum Pathways, you will aid students in their academic, social, and emotional growth while fostering communication skills, confidence, independence, and a sincere passion for learning.
We are looking for a passionate SEN Teacher to assist our Year 3 Semi-Formal students during this maternity cover. You will be part of a caring, structured, and highly supportive environment where every minor achievement is acknowledged, and your influence will be apparent each day.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Designing and delivering engaging, innovative lessons aligned with Semi-Formal pathways
- Creating customized learning resources that inspire curiosity and participation
- Establishing structured, stimulating classroom settings that encourage independence
- Supporting student progress and wellbeing in accordance with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
- Fostering positive, trusting relationships with students, families, and colleagues
- Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to provide exceptional provision
- Developing and sharing specialized knowledge in teaching students with autism and complex needs
About You
We seek a teacher who blends expertise, compassion, and creativity:
- Qualified: UK QTS (or equivalent) with a relevant degree
- Experienced: Strong comprehension of SEN, including ASC, learning difficulties, and complex needs
- Compassionate & Resilient: Capable of building trusting relationships with students who may have encountered challenges
- Collaborative: Effective communicator who thrives in a team-oriented environment
- Creative & Flexible: Able to modify lessons and strategies to address individual needs
