JOB DESCRIPTION

As a curriculum area leader, you will be a knowledgeable and reflective educator who utilizes inquiry-based teaching methodologies to create stimulating learning environments and foster teams that inspire all learners to become self-directed, lifelong learners and leaders. Additionally, a curriculum leader will be responsible for teaching their respective subjects or disciplines as necessary.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

In addition to the responsibilities outlined in the Subject Teacher Job Description, a curriculum leader is tasked with ensuring high standards of pedagogy within their area. Their responsibilities include:

  • Cultivating a collegial and supportive culture within the curriculum area that encourages innovation.
  • Being accountable for teaching standards and student outcomes, ensuring measurable academic progress.
  • Contributing to the development of school-wide strategic planning and advocating for the vision of the curriculum area.
  • Creating, curating, and distributing the written, taught, and assessed curriculum while adhering to awarding body practices.
  • Keeping accurate records across different provision levels and effectively communicating any changes.
  • Offering timely and meaningful feedback to learners and their families while appropriately tracking progress.
  • Collaborating efficiently with admissions and finance regarding EAL contracts.
  • Leading the establishment of subject area goals and individual objectives through the Teacher Professional Enhancement process (TPE).
  • Managing allocated budgets and resources effectively while planning for curriculum resource needs.
  • Participating in the hiring process for new staff and recommending suitable personnel for each course during scheduling.
  • Supporting and evaluating the quality of teaching in the subject area and addressing professional development needs.
  • Implementing restorative practices to foster positive classroom behavior.
  • Building strong working relationships with colleagues and parents.
  • Empowering students to be self-reflective and independent learners.
  • Involving yourself in all aspects of school life and supporting holistic education.
  • Carrying out any additional responsibilities assigned by management, stakeholders, or the reporting manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • A relevant degree alongside a teaching qualification (or equivalent).
  • A higher degree or recognized professional qualification (preferred).
  • Coaching accreditation (preferred).
  • Proof of ongoing relevant professional development.
  • Experience teaching students with diverse needs.
  • Experience in an international school setting (preferred).
  • Relevant curriculum experience.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
