ROLE SUMMARY:
St Anthony's is a Catholic Preparatory School (IAPS) catering to boys aged 2.5 – 13. Although it follows Roman Catholic traditions, it is open to boys of various faiths. Most of our students transition to prestigious Independent schools. At St Anthony’s, we uphold exceptionally high standards for ourselves and our students, believing that challenge and stretch are crucial for true academic achievement.
In September 2023, we launched a nursery that has quickly gained popularity. St Anthony’s enjoys a solid reputation in Hampstead and increasingly beyond, known for its exceptional teaching quality, as well as its strengths in sports, music, and the arts. While we are not overly selective, our academic results are impressive, with many boys earning places at competitive London day and country boarding schools. St Anthony’s School for Boys is looking to hire a qualified and inspiring Reception Class Teacher to begin in September 2026.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver effective teaching to whole classes, groups, and individual students to meet educational objectives, maintain momentum, and optimize teaching time.
- Develop lesson plans and sequences tailored to the individual learning requirements of pupils.
- Foster a high standard of behavior among students by establishing clear rules and maintaining high expectations.
- Engage in the school’s Performance Management program.
- Identify students with special educational needs and know how to access support for providing targeted assistance.
- Create and modify long, medium, and short-term plans for all teaching schemes.
- Assess and track students' classwork and homework, offering constructive feedback both orally and in writing.
- Set clear improvement targets for students’ achievements and monitor their progress toward these goals.
- Supervise students during playtime, lunchtime, and at least one extracurricular club.
- Attend staff meetings, briefings, inset days, parents' evenings, open days, and school fetes.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:
- Experience as a Reception Class Teacher.
- A clear understanding of professional responsibilities in relation to school policies and practices.
- The ability to set a positive example for students through personal conduct and appearance.
- The ability to critically evaluate their teaching and apply insights to enhance effectiveness.
- The capability to establish productive working relationships with colleagues when necessary.
- A passion for the extracurricular activities offered by the school.
- Experience in directing and line managing Teaching Assistants and support staff as needed.
