Job Summary:
We are on the lookout for a dynamic and highly skilled Performing Arts Technician to become part of our team. This essential role is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of all technical elements within the Performing Arts Department, including lighting, sound, and stage equipment. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with the Director of Performing Arts and the Head of Music to support all school events, productions, and performances.

Key Responsibilities:
- Equipment Maintenance and Management:
- Oversee and maintain all theatre and performing arts equipment, ensuring that lighting, sound, and AV systems are in peak working condition.
- Regularly inspect, test, and service equipment to ensure safety compliance.
- Manage inventory and repair or replace equipment as necessary.

- Event and Production Support:
- Set up and operate lighting, sound, and AV systems for school performances and regular classes.
- Work in partnership with the Head of Music and the Performing Arts team to ensure that all technical elements of performances are well-coordinated.
- Provide support during rehearsals to guarantee that all technical needs are fulfilled and troubleshoot any arising issues.
- Engage in live sound mixing and lighting design for productions as required.

- General Technical Support:
- Deliver technical support and training for staff and students regarding the use of performing arts equipment.
- Ensure that all performances and events are executed smoothly from a technical perspective, covering pre-event setup, event management, and post-event breakdown.
- Assist in designing and implementing new technical systems and enhancements within the department.

- Health and Safety:
- Ensure that all technical operations conform to the school’s health and safety policies.
- Conduct risk assessments for productions and guarantee the safe usage of equipment by both staff and students.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance, inspections, and incidents related to technical equipment.

Qualifications and Experience:
- Demonstrated experience in technical theatre, sound engineering, or stage management.
- Proficiency with lighting consoles, sound desks, AV systems, and other technical equipment.
- Strong grasp of stagecraft, live sound production, and lighting design.
- Capacity to efficiently troubleshoot technical issues, especially under pressure during live events.
- Familiarity with health and safety regulations in a theatre or educational environment is preferred.

Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Capacity to collaborate effectively with teaching staff, students, and external contractors.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, problem-solving approach with the ability to work independently.

Desirable:
- Experience in an educational setting.
- First aid or relevant safety certifications.
- Proficiency in IT, particularly related to software for lighting, sound, or AV control.
