MYP English Language Acquisition Teacher

Maple Bear Middle School Uzbekistan is seeking a dedicated and skilled IB MYP English Language Acquisition (ELA) Teacher to join our growing international school community. This role involves teaching students in Grades 6 through 10 who are learning English as an additional language. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic about implementing the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) framework and Diploma Programme (DP), fostering linguistic and cultural awareness, and delivering personalized support in small group environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Curriculum Delivery: Create, prepare, and deliver engaging and tailored lessons for the IB MYP English Language Acquisition course, catering to diverse language proficiency levels (Phases 1-6).
• Assessment: Administer and assess formative and summative evaluations, including official MYP criterion-based assessments, while providing timely and constructive feedback to students.
• MYP Implementation: Ensure that all teaching and learning activities are consistent with the IB MYP philosophy and curriculum standards, integrating Global Contexts and promoting Approaches to Learning (ATL) skills.
• Student Support: Utilize small class sizes to provide individualized support and language scaffolding, helping students improve their language proficiency and engage with the broader curriculum.
• Collaboration: Work alongside fellow MYP educators, the MYP Coordinator, and subject-area specialists to integrate ELA skills throughout the curriculum.
• Professional Development: Participate in all professional development opportunities provided by the school, including mandatory IB training, to remain updated with the MYP ELA subject guide and assessment practices.
• Communication: Maintain open and professional communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student progress and well-being.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Education, English, Applied Linguistics, or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification/licensure from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of two years' experience teaching English Language Learners (ELLs) at the middle school level (Grades 6-10) is preferred.
• Previous experience with the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is highly desirable.
• Experience in an international school setting is a plus.
