Position Overview:

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Middle School Counselor to become a part of our dedicated team starting in August 2026. This role presents an exciting chance for a counselor who is passionate about education and keen to support the academic achievements of our students.

Job Purpose

To organize and deliver academic, personal, social, and emotional counseling for students.

Job Scope

You will hold the overall responsibility for creating and executing a counseling program that aligns with the school's requirements and supports the student body in achieving success across all areas of their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and uphold the ethos and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Develop procedures and timelines to provide students with counseling in academic, personal, social, emotional, and psychological areas.
  • Manage the transition process for students.
  • Create protocols for obtaining external support for students facing personal challenges and emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to design experiences and activities that enhance students' holistic development, fostering responsibility, leadership skills, cooperation, and other essential personal and social skills.
  • Maintain records of student progress, achievements, activities, and interests, while monitoring student advancement using all available data and evidence.
  • Develop proactive guidelines and procedures to address bullying effectively.
  • Establish and implement appropriate testing programs to assess student aptitude and achievement.
  • Set up systems for promptly informing parents about any issues related to class performance, school work, or behavioral concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
  • Demonstrate commitment by engaging in tasks that may extend beyond the regular workday when necessary.
  • Participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
  • Carry out additional duties as requested by direct and dotted line managers/supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
