Position Overview:

We are looking for an energetic and passionate Elementary School Counselor to become a part of our committed team starting in August 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity for a counselor who is dedicated to education and eager to support our students in achieving academic success.

Job Purpose

To organize and deliver academic, personal, social, and emotional counseling for students.

Job Scope

You will hold the primary responsibility for creating and executing a counseling program that satisfies the needs of both the school and its students, enabling them to thrive in all facets of their lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Foster and promote the ethos and standards of excellence as outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
  • Develop procedures and timelines to provide students with comprehensive academic, personal, social, emotional, and psychological counseling.
  • Oversee the transition process for students.
  • Create systems for obtaining external support for students facing personal challenges and emotional needs.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to design experiences and activities that support students’ holistic development, fostering responsibility, leadership, cooperation, and other personal and social skills.
  • Maintain detailed student records on progress, achievements, activities, and interests, utilizing all available data and evidence to track student development.
  • Establish proactive strategies and procedures to address bullying.
  • Implement and manage suitable testing programs to assess student aptitude and achievement.
  • Develop systems to promptly inform parents about any challenges related to classwork, behavioral issues, or overall performance.
  • Ensure adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
  • Show initiative and commitment beyond the standard workday when tasks demand additional effort.
  • Participate in staff meetings and serve on committees as necessary.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities as requested by direct and dotted line managers/supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
