Inclusion Teacher – Alternative Pathways

Kings’ School Nad Al Sheba is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Inclusion Teacher – Alternative Pathways to become part of our expanding department starting in August 2026. This role involves setting high standards for students within a tailored classroom environment in a mainstream school. You will establish a supportive and secure atmosphere where children with additional needs can flourish at their own pace, utilizing various communication and regulation techniques. Students will engage with the National Curriculum along with ASDAN, learning through a practical and hands-on approach with customized and individual targets. You will lead a team of two learning support assistants to ensure that pupils receive appropriate support, guaranteeing a high-quality educational experience.

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • A bachelor’s degree in a relevant teaching subject, ideally in Special Needs Education
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), PGCE, or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of classroom teaching experience in special needs (ASD/SEMH)
  • Experience in secondary educational settings
  • Familiarity with Makaton (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Ability to tailor curriculums to meet the individual needs of students
  • Competence in delivering creative learning experiences
  • Capability to develop Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
  • A clear personal educational philosophy
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Understanding of how to effectively support and remove barriers to learning for children facing Social, Emotional, and communication challenges
  • Skill in identifying and addressing the underlying causes of challenging behaviors and implementing effective behavior management strategies
  • A thorough understanding of how to teach the National Curriculum using a hands-on, functional approach
  • Commitment to inclusive education that addresses the needs of each child

Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including Speech and Language Therapists, Behavior Therapists, and Occupational Therapists
  • Deliver meaningful learning opportunities for children facing barriers to learning through the National Curriculum, ASDAN, and the SCERTS Framework
  • Create an engaging and creative learning environment that fosters communication, language, and behavioral regulation
  • Assess pupils and monitor progress using the SCERTS framework and B-Squared
  • Develop IEP goals in collaboration with relevant therapists and team members to eliminate barriers to learning and promote inclusion
  • Stay informed about current learning strategies, resources, and inclusive practices
  • Work closely with Primary teachers, the inclusion team, SENCO, and pathways leader to achieve best practices and inclusive opportunities for all students
  • Partner with parents to ensure a reciprocal sharing of techniques and insights regarding pupils
