The Opportunity

The Role
As the Head of Mathematics, your responsibilities will encompass:
• Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a clear vision for Mathematics throughout the secondary phase, ensuring that the curriculum is innovative, comprehensive, and inclusive.
• Pedagogical Excellence: Exhibit exceptional classroom practices while mentoring departmental staff to deliver high-quality instruction that inspires students of all abilities.
• Curriculum Oversight: Lead the implementation and ongoing improvement of the KS3 and IGCSE Mathematics schemes of work, ensuring high achievement and a genuine enthusiasm for the subject.
• Data-Driven Progress: Oversee the use of iSAMS and internal tracking systems to evaluate student progress within the department, applying targeted interventions to assist every student in reaching their full potential.
• Visibility & Spirit: Promote the celebration of mathematical achievements across the campus, leading hallmark events such as "Pi Day," External Maths Challenges, and Inter-House STEM competitions.
• Collaborative Practice: Work closely with the Senior Leadership Team to ensure departmental objectives align with the school's broader educational vision and global assessment standards.
Candidate Profile

Qualifications
• BA/BSc/BEd in Mathematics or a relevant STEM field, along with PGCE/QTS.
• Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development in leadership or advanced mathematics pedagogy.
Experience
• A proven track record of delivering high-quality Mathematics instruction and improving standards at Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5.
• Experience in a leadership role (Head of Department, Key Stage Coordinator, or Lead Teacher) is highly preferred.
• Established success in preparing students for formal external examinations (Cambridge or Edexcel preferred).
