Role Overview
The Head of Islamic Studies Department will provide strategic leadership in curriculum development, teaching, and learning, ensuring high standards in Islamic education. With teaching responsibilities, the role focuses on delivering an engaging, research-driven curriculum that integrates modern pedagogy, technology, and student-centered learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Mentoring teachers and fostering cultural appreciation.
- Building strong partnerships with educational bodies to enhance student outcomes and uphold national educational standards.
- Leading and developing high standards of pedagogy and practice across all departments.
- Supporting Subject Leaders in decision-making for curriculum, assessment, and resource development.
- Leading intervention and development plans for individual teachers as required.
- Providing leadership and guidance to Islamic teachers and curriculum support staff.
- Monitoring the effectiveness of the Islamic teaching programmes.
- Setting and delivering targets for improvement for students.
- Analysing department data to identify students at risk of underachieving.
- Identifying training needs for all staff and devising appropriate professional development opportunities.
- Leading the Performance Management process for the team.
- Promoting the subject area through Open Days and Options Evenings.
