English Teacher

Reach British School is seeking to recruit a highly skilled, motivated, and dedicated English Teacher.

The ideal applicant will possess a profound enthusiasm for English language and literature, coupled with a strong dedication to designing engaging and structured lessons that improve students' reading, writing, speaking, and analytical skills. They will offer tailored feedback consistent with essential school policies, such as Teaching & Learning and Assessment, ensuring that students are supported, challenged, and inspired to attain exceptional outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver outstanding English lessons that align with the school’s curriculum and planning frameworks (LTPs, MTPs, and STPs).
  • Enhance students' reading comprehension, writing abilities, vocabulary, and critical thinking.
  • Effectively organize lessons to sustain pace, challenge, and student engagement.
  • Clarify learning objectives to ensure students understand them clearly.
  • Differentiate instruction to inspire and challenge every student, both individually and in groups.
  • Create avenues for discussion, debate, creative writing, and analytical thought.
  • Foster a love of reading by introducing students to a wide array of literary works and genres.
  • Support students in improving their communication and presentation skills.
  • Assign relevant and engaging homework to reinforce and extend classroom learning.
  • Employ peer and self-assessment strategies to promote reflection and improvement.
  • Efficiently manage classroom behavior and resources.
  • Maintain high expectations and promote positive behavior following school policy.
  • Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners, including students of determination (SEN) and EAL students.
  • Ensure students understand key literary terms, language conventions, and writing techniques.
  • Integrate SMSC development, showcasing creativity, innovation, and enterprise in lesson planning.
  • Foster a secure, supportive, and inclusive atmosphere where students feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and opinions.

AMAR: Academic Monitoring, Assessment and Reporting

  • Carry out accurate formative and summative assessments and facilitate moderation as necessary.
  • Use assessment data effectively to inform lesson planning and enhance student progress.
  • Provide systematic, meaningful, and age-appropriate personalized feedback.
  • Complete individualized reports in line with the school’s Assessment and Reporting Policy.

Person Specification

Candidates must demonstrate:

  • A minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in the UK or at a British Curriculum school.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum for England (English) and current assessment methodologies.
  • Effective classroom management skills and the ability to engage students in significant learning experiences.
  • Familiarity with data systems, student tracking, intervention strategies, and reporting.
  • A commitment to providing exceptional teaching and learning.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
