About This Role

Provide the designated curriculum while demonstrating a thorough and current understanding of the subject matter.
Design and deliver engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and a classroom environment tailored to accommodate diverse learning styles.
Present written documentation of planning and preparation upon request. Maintain organized records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.
Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times, including Child Protection protocols.
Teach assigned students according to their unique needs, employing effective teaching strategies that address various student abilities, such as late entrants, ESL learners, those with lower academic performance, and gifted and talented individuals.
Assign and evaluate student work. Assess, document, and report on the academic growth, progress, and achievements of students, using this information to tailor the curriculum to meet individual student needs.
Demonstrate proficiency in incorporating media and technology within the classroom setting.
Support the overall progress and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational and pastoral issues.
Engage with external stakeholders when necessary (e.g., Ministry of Education representatives).
Take part in appraisal and Performance Management processes and pursue Professional Development (PD) actively, contributing to your own growth.
Collaborate with colleagues in the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, course outlines, and pastoral arrangements.
Participate in, and lead when appropriate, the co-curricular and extra-curricular programs within the school, committing at least 2 hours to these activities. Foster positive working relationships through effective leadership and sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences.
Monitor and oversee student behavior to ensure it is safe and appropriate, planning and implementing strategies to promote self-discipline and manage disruptive actions.
Exemplify and encourage cultural awareness and understanding while fostering a love for learning.
Assist in the planning and organization of school events and functions, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
Regularly communicate with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents updated on their children's progress while maintaining confidentiality regarding student information.
Demonstrate initiative and dedication beyond the standard workday when tasks require additional investment.
Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
Carry out other duties as assigned by both direct and indirect reporting line managers/supervisors.
