Key Stage Intervention Lead

Main Purpose of the Role

To lead the design, coordination and delivery of targeted interventions that support students experiencing barriers to learning, including social, emotional and behavioural needs. The Key Stage Intervention Lead will play a key role in improving student outcomes by working proactively with staff, families and external agencies to ensure all students are supported to succeed.This is a pivotal pastoral role within the school, contributing to a strong and collaborative team committed to improving the life chances of all students.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the personal, social and academic development of students through targeted intervention
• Identify students in need of support using data, referrals and professional judgement
• Design and deliver high-quality intervention programmes for individuals and groups
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of interventions, adapting provision to maximise outcomes
• Maintain accurate records of intervention, progress and impact
• Provide direct support through mentoring, coaching and small group work
• Support students with social, emotional and mental health needs
• Work proactively to reduce barriers to learning, including behaviour and attendance concerns
• Support vulnerable students, including those with SEND, Pupil Premium and those at risk of exclusion
• Work collaboratively with teaching staff to implement effective in-class strategies
• Support reintegration following absence, suspension or alternative provision
• Liaise effectively with parents and carers to support student progress and wellbeing
• Work with external agencies to secure appropriate support for students
• Contribute to the development of pastoral systems, intervention programmes and PSHE provision
• Promote a culture of high expectations, inclusion and positive relationships across the Key Stage

Person Specification

Essential

• Experience working with young people in an educational or pastoral setting
• Strong understanding of student wellbeing, mental health and barriers to learning
• Ability to design and deliver effective interventions
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to build positive relationships with students, families and professionals
• Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
• Ability to analyse and use data to inform practice
• Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities
• Resilience, empathy and a commitment to inclusion

Desirable

• Experience working with students with SEND, SEMH or trauma-informed approaches
• Training in intervention strategies (e.g. CBT, restorative practice, Zones of Regulation)
• Experience of multi-agency working
• Knowledge of Pupil Premium strategies
• Mental Health First Aid or similar training

Additional Information

The Key Stage Intervention Leads are an integral part of the pastoral team, working closely with Heads of Year, Pastoral Leads and senior staff. The role requires energy, professionalism and a strong commitment to supporting students to overcome barriers and achieve their full potential.
