About This Role

DEPUTY SENCO

In collaboration with the SENCO, the Deputy SENCO will assist in both the strategic and operational management of SEND provisions throughout the school and will take charge in the SENCO's absence.

This newly established position is specifically geared towards enhancing the educational experience for students with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) as well as those listed on the SEND register, with an emphasis on improving student performance and outcomes, particularly concerning SEND provisions at Key Stage 3, which includes:

• Facilitating EHCP Annual Reviews and student-focused assessments
• Managing KS3 SEN provisions and interventions, such as phonics, Emotional Literacy Support (ELSA), and AQA Unit Award Scheme (UAS) offerings
• Supervising staff involved in delivering SEND provisions
• Acting as the primary contact for Year 6 SEND transitions
• Enhancing attendance, engagement, and emotional well-being for SEND and disadvantaged students at KS3
• Teaching and exemplifying adaptable practices for KS3

The ideal candidate will be a qualified teacher with either a primary or secondary background and substantial SEND expertise. Applicants should either hold a SENCO qualification or be prepared to pursue the NASENCO or NPQSEN qualification.
