About This Role

We are a community-based centre governed by a trust which has a team-based approach to early learning with the child at the heart of the matter. Our centre is embedded in our community, and we have a team of long serving and committed staff members who value relationships, tikanga and play. We have a unique outdoor environment and spend a lot of time in our extensive outdoor setting. We are also committed to supporting teachers who would like to become qualified.


We are looking for a motivated leader who is:

  • community-oriented, building warm, respectful relationships with whānau, staff, tamariki, and the wider community

  • a clear, confident communicator, able to engage effectively with all stakeholders

  • organised and dependable, with the ability to balance people leadership, compliance, and operational responsibilities

  • collaborative and empowering

  • reflective and improvement minded.


Preference will be given to applicants who have proven leadership experience in a New Zealand education setting.


Our centre can offer:



  • Employment in the heart of a beautiful Ruapehu community with a supportive trust and team.

  • Salary range between $74,360 and $83,740 based on the experience and qualifications of the successful applicant.

  • Support from the previous manager (if required) during a transitional period.
