About This Role
Implement the designated curriculum while showcasing current and accurate knowledge of both the curriculum and subject matter.
Design and conduct engaging lessons that inspire students, utilizing suitable materials and creating a classroom environment that caters to diverse learning styles. Provide written documentation of planning and preparation when requested. Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum outlines, year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.
Adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct consistently. Instruct students according to their individual requirements, employing effective teaching strategies tailored to various needs, such as late arrivals, ESL learners, students with lower academic abilities, and those who are gifted.
Assign and evaluate coursework. Monitor, document, and report on students’ academic progress, ensuring that assessments align with each student's unique needs. Demonstrate proficiency in integrating media and technology within the classroom.
Support the overall growth and welfare of students while offering guidance on educational matters. Communicate with external parties when necessary, such as officials from the Ministry of Education.
Engage in performance appraisal processes and Continuing Professional Development (CPD). Collaborate with colleagues in the creation and enhancement of teaching resources, study courses, and pastoral care arrangements.
Involve yourself in, and take on leadership roles as appropriate, within the school's co-curricular and extra-curricular initiatives. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.
Supervise and manage student behavior to ensure safety and appropriateness. Develop and implement strategies that promote self-discipline and effectively address disruptive behavior.
Exemplify and promote cultural awareness and understanding, while nurturing a passion for learning.
Assist in organizing and planning school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
Maintain regular communication with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values while keeping them updated on their child’s progress, all while respecting the confidentiality of student information.
Demonstrate initiative and dedication beyond standard working hours when tasks require additional effort. Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
Carry out any additional responsibilities as assigned by your direct and indirect supervisors.
