UCN acknowledges that our institution is located on the traditional lands of various Indigenous peoples, particularly the Cree, Dene, Red River Métis, and Oji-Cree. Indigenous peoples have historically maintained their homelands in northern Manitoba. The First Nations in the regions served by UCN have established treaty relationships with the Crown (which includes signatories to treaties 4, 5—along with the treaty 5 adhesion—and treaty 6, located within the treaty 5 adhesion). This territory has also become home to other Indigenous groups. We honor these treaties and engage with all Indigenous peoples to foster truth, reconciliation, and learning.
