About This Role

$Upd is on the lookout for an exceptional Vice Principal to join Yasmina American Academy in Abu Dhabi, with a start date in April 2025 or sooner based on appointment.

Yasmina American Academy is situated in the vibrant Khalifa City A, dedicated to offering every student an outstanding education that is both high-quality and affordable. Our school provides a comprehensive American curriculum from Pre-KG to Grade 5, focusing on unlocking each child's potential within a supportive and engaging atmosphere.

**Upd Strategic Directions**
- Assist the Principal by carrying out assigned duties and acting in their stead during their absence.
- Partner with the Principal and Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to spearhead teaching, learning, and school development initiatives.
- Evaluate leadership, teaching, and learning standards as part of the self-assessment process of the school.
- Create and manage subject plans that align with the School Development Plan, involving staff in their implementation.
- Establish and oversee short-, medium-, and long-term resource development plans in critical areas.
- Collaborate with external agencies to shape school strategies.

**Leading Teaching and Learning**
- Work in conjunction with the Principal to enhance teaching quality and student outcomes.
- Offer constructive feedback to colleagues to support their development and positively influence student learning.
- Boost staff performance through professional development opportunities and reflective practices.
- Organize staff meetings and invite external speakers when necessary.
- Keep abreast of curriculum advancements and disseminate knowledge among staff.
- Participate in the recruitment and selection of teaching and support personnel.

**Leading and Managing Staff**
- Cultivate a professional learning community aimed at achieving high standards.
- Support staff development through continuous professional development (CPD), performance management, and goal-setting.
- Foster a positive school culture characterized by fairness, collaboration, and high expectations.
- Celebrate team successes and collaborate with other schools to build effective learning communities.

**Efficient Resource Deployment**
- Assist the Principal in enhancing organizational structures to ensure a safe, efficient environment.
- Manage subject budgets to align expenditures with priorities and ensure cost-effectiveness.
- Allocate and track resources to improve learning outcomes.

**Accountability**
- Collaborate with the Principal to ensure accountability to parents, ADEK, and Aldar Academies.
- Advocate for high-quality education, shared responsibility, and a collaborative school culture.
- Provide accurate performance reports to stakeholders and reflect on feedback for continuous improvement.
- Monitor and assess student progress, confirming that work schemes and teaching strategies are effective.

**Strengthening Community**
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to promote equity and entitlement.
- Collaborate with other schools and Aldar Academies to exchange expertise.
- Work with parents and agencies to safeguard the well-being of all students.

**Minimum Qualifications:**
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Education or a B.Sc. with a PGCE is essential; NPQSL or a Master’s degree is desirable.

**Minimum Experience:**
- A minimum of 8 years of experience, with at least 3 years exceeding performance standards.
- A minimum of 2 years in senior leadership; experience in middle leadership is required.
- Demonstrated success in school initiatives that enhance standards and achievements.

**Skills & Knowledge:**
- Exceptional teaching abilities across various ability levels.
- Experience leading whole-school initiatives.
- Background in performance management and working in international schools; IB experience is preferred.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
