About the role
Aoba-Japan International School is in search of a skilled, knowledgeable, and student-focused IBDP Coordinator to advance the development of its Diploma Programme. This pivotal leadership position is ideal for a professional who merges extensive IB experience with sound judgment, relational leadership, and the capacity to uphold both quality and consistency throughout the program.
The IBDP Coordinator will be tasked with the effective implementation, administration, and ongoing enhancement of the Diploma Programme in accordance with IB standards and the school's vision. Key responsibilities include overseeing curriculum planning, assessment processes, teacher support, student guidance, program compliance, and engaging with essential stakeholders.
Key responsibilities
The successful applicant will:

Provide pedagogical leadership for the Diploma Programme, ensuring alignment with IB standards and practices
•
Oversee curriculum planning and documentation for the DP, including subject-specific and interdisciplinary approaches
•
Coordinate all facets of DP administration, including student registration, examinations, and adherence to IB requirements
•
Lead and facilitate professional development for DP teachers, including the onboarding of new staff
•
Encourage collaboration, consistency, and high teaching and learning standards throughout the programme
•
Manage internal and external assessment processes in line with IB expectations
•
Assist students with subject selection, academic pathways, and program requirements
•
Communicate effectively with students, parents, teachers, school leaders, and the IB
•
Lead information sessions and workshops for parents regarding the DP and its core components
•
Collaborate closely with university guidance personnel to support student transitions post-school
•
Contribute to strategic planning, continuous improvement, and overarching school leadership priorities
•
Oversee the DP budget and ensure adequate resources for program delivery
•
Work in partnership with PYP and MYP coordinators to enhance articulation and continuity across the IB continuum
Candidate profile
We seek a candidate who possesses:

Significant experience teaching within the IB Diploma Programme
•
A deep understanding of IB standards, practices, assessment, and program requirements
•
Prior leadership experience in a DP coordination or similar academic leadership capacity
•
The credibility and confidence to lead colleagues and foster professional growth
•
Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication abilities
•
A dedication to student achievement, wellbeing, and delivering high-quality programs
•
The aptitude to collaborate effectively with staff, students, parents, and senior leaders in an international school setting
Qualifications and experience
Candidates should have:
•
At least five years of teaching experience in the IB Diploma Programme
•
A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field
•
A master’s degree or an equivalent advanced qualification is preferred
•
Previous experience as a DP Coordinator or in a similar leadership role is advantageous
