About This Role

ART TEACHER (SECONDARY SECTION)

Rainbow International School is a coeducational day and boarding institution catering to students aged 2 to 18 in Kampala, Uganda. As one of the largest and most respected international schools in the country, we implement the EYFS and IPC curricula in our Primary section, the English National curriculum at Key Stage 3, and Cambridge IGCSE and Advanced Level programs in Key Stages 4 and 5. Additionally, we provide BTEC Level 3 courses as an alternative route to university education.

The Post:
We are looking for a skilled and qualified professional to join our team. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a dynamic Art department, with the responsibility of teaching Art up to A Level. Familiarity with the BTEC Art program would be advantageous.

Experience:
• Must be a qualified Art Teacher with comprehensive knowledge of Secondary Art within the English National Curriculum.
• A minimum of three years of teaching experience is required after obtaining a teaching degree/PGCE/PGDE/QTS, either in the UK or in a British curriculum school abroad.
• Ability to teach Art from KS3 to A Level is essential.
• Willingness to teach additional subjects beyond your specialty if needed is expected.
• Openness to teaching in other sections of the school as opportunities arise is appreciated.
• Proficiency in ceramics and/or textiles would be highly beneficial.
• Previous experience in an international school setting is preferred.
• Advanced ICT skills to enhance classroom learning are necessary.
• Capacity to engage, motivate, and support students, colleagues, and parents is crucial.
• Familiarity with Google Apps is required.
• Experience participating in various after-school extracurricular activities is essential.
• Professionalism in conduct and appearance, along with a strong commitment to the school community (including school events), is expected.

Qualifications:
● Bachelor of Education in Art
● Or a Bachelor’s degree plus a Post Graduate Diploma/Certificate in Education (PGDE/PGCE) in Art

Compensation

$1,000 - $2,500 per month (Basic salary + flights + medical insurance + accommodation (all covered by the school))
