About the School

The British International School of Ljubljana (BISL) https://britishschool.si/ is an expanding British-style institution catering to students aged 3 to 18 from over 30 different nationalities in the stunning capital of Slovenia, often referred to as Europe’s “hidden jewel.” With small class sizes, our students exhibit a strong desire to learn. BISL proudly holds accreditation from COBIS and successfully met all standards during an ISI BSO compliance inspection in March 2024. In a comprehensive inspection conducted in 2021, the school received OUTSTANDING ratings in every category.

About the Opportunity

This position involves teaching general Science at KS3 and Chemistry at IGCSE/A Level. You will play a crucial role in inspiring and engaging students as they build their knowledge and skills in accordance with the English National Curriculum. The ideal candidate will be part of a dynamic and innovative team of Science educators, responsible for delivering Chemistry and general Science to students of varying abilities.

We seek an exceptional classroom practitioner who demonstrates a strong commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, and student success. The ideal candidate will possess the drive and passion to create an inspiring and exceptional learning environment that motivates students of all abilities to achieve significant progress. Additionally, applicants should be willing to contribute to the broader school community, as this is an expectation for all teaching staff.

Candidates must hold a relevant degree and teaching qualification, with experience teaching students aged 11-18 being highly desirable. Familiarity with EAL learners from diverse cultural backgrounds will be advantageous.

Due to visa and residency challenges, we are unable to consider applicants from countries outside the UK or EU. For candidates holding non-EU citizenship, family visas can only be granted after one year of employment in Slovenia.

As a British school that specializes in the Early Years Framework, English National Curriculum, IGCSE, and A Level for a diverse international student body, proficiency in English is essential. Preference will be given to applicants who are native English speakers.
