About This Role
International School Brescia is a dynamic and welcoming educational community situated in Italy, dedicated to delivering exceptional international education to students from a variety of backgrounds. We are looking for a committed Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) to become part of our team and enhance the academic and personal growth of all students with additional needs. Our institution operates as an IB continuum school, catering to students aged 2 to 18 hailing from different nationalities and educational experiences.
Position: Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) and EAL teacher
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the identification, assessment, and support for students with special educational needs.
- Create individualized learning plans (ILPs) in partnership with teachers, parents, and external specialists.
- Offer guidance and training to staff on effective strategies for assisting SEND students.
- Track student progress and modify interventions as needed.
- Communicate with families, professionals, and agencies to ensure all-encompassing support.
- Teach English Language Acquisition.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree in Education or a related discipline.
- At least 2 years of experience in special educational needs coordination or a comparable position.
- In-depth understanding of SEN legislation, frameworks, and best practices within an international educational setting.
- Exceptional communication abilities for effective collaboration with staff, parents, students, and external stakeholders.
- Familiarity with IB DP accommodations for SEND learners.
- Capacity to analyze data to guide teaching strategies tailored for SEND students.
- Experience working with English as an Additional Language learners within the IB curriculum.
