About This Role

The International School of Florence (Italy) is looking for a highly skilled and experienced educator to teach IB Individuals & Societies.

A valid EU passport or Italian work visa is required.

Contract Details: This position is a temporary contract from August 2026 to June 2027.

Qualifications and Experience:

● A relevant undergraduate degree and a teaching qualification.

● At least 3 years of teaching experience in an international school setting.

● Familiarity with the IB MYP & DP is highly desirable.

● Experience working with students from a variety of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.

Reports to: Principal

The role involves planning, organizing, and implementing an effective instructional program in a secondary educational setting, guiding students to reach their academic potential. This position is supervised by the principal.

Key Responsibilities include:

Core duties may encompass but are not limited to the following:

● Design, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that promote active learning.

● Create schemes of work, lesson plans, and assessments that align with established standards and procedures.

● Guide and oversee students in the use of learning materials and equipment.

● Employ appropriate technology to enhance and personalize instruction, collaborate with fellow faculty, engage with families, and track student progress.

● Manage classroom behavior by setting and enforcing rules and procedures.

● Uphold discipline in line with the school's regulations and disciplinary frameworks.

● Provide constructive feedback on student work.

● Support and track the progress of individual students, using data to modify teaching strategies as needed.

● Keep accurate and comprehensive records of students' progress and development.

● Ensure all necessary documentation is updated accurately and in compliance with legal, district, and school guidelines.

● Prepare required reports regarding student performance and activities.

● Engage in department, school, parent meetings, and schoolwide/division events.

● Contribute to and deliver ISF's Well-being program and any special events within the school.

● Consistently communicate essential information to students, colleagues, and parents about student progress and needs.

● Set and communicate clear learning objectives for all activities.

● Prepare the classroom for various learning activities.

● Utilize a diverse range of educational materials and resources.

● Observe and assess students' performance and development.

● Assign and evaluate classwork, homework, tests, and projects.

Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

● Demonstrating proficiency and preparation in working with students from diverse cultural, linguistic, economic, and ability backgrounds.

● Using relevant technology to enhance and differentiate instruction.

● Adhering to all school policies and procedures.

● Collaborating with the Head of School, Principals, Heads of Subjects, Curriculum Coordinators, and fellow teachers in the development of curricula, teaching materials, methods, and assessment strategies.

● Upholding high standards of professional practice and teaching quality, while fostering communication, collaboration, and cooperation among staff.

● Encouraging parental and community involvement, responding to parent inquiries promptly, returning calls, and addressing emails.

● Engaging in appropriate professional development activities.

● Participating in department, school, parent meetings, and schoolwide/division events.

● Performing other assigned duties.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
