THE ACADEMY
GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a private co-educational IB World School serving students from PreK to Grade 12. Founded in 2008 as part of GEMS Education, we are authorized to offer the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programmes, and hold accreditations from the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

THE ROLE
Our Economics department has significantly improved student outcomes and fostered a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. This success is attributed to the commitment of our staff, their exceptional expertise, and the department's innovative approach to data and curriculum. The Economics department enjoys a strong reputation among students for the attentive and personalized support provided.

SKILLS
The ideal applicant will have a proven history of effective teaching and facilitating student success. While experience with the IB Middle Years Programme & Diploma Programme is preferred, outstanding educators from various curriculum backgrounds are encouraged to apply. A strong alignment with the IB philosophy and a commitment to the Learner Profile values are essential. A true enthusiasm for working in a non-selective, culturally rich environment is also a key requirement. Additionally, candidates should have:
• A Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree plus a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent specialization in Economics.
• Advanced qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.
• At least 3 years of experience teaching Secondary Economics, preferably within an IB curriculum setting, though this is not a strict requirement.
• Demonstrated experience in teaching Economics.
• A solid understanding of the IB MYP & DP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred.
• A strong desire to continuously enhance their teaching practices and provide exceptional learning experiences for students.
• The experience, personality, and educational philosophy that align with a leading IB World School like GEMS World Academy.
• Availability in August 2026.
