Position Overview

JESS Arabian Ranches Primary School is seeking a dedicated 1:1 Learning Support Assistant. The successful candidate will support an individual or small groups of children in engaging with the curriculum. Ideally, applicants will have at least a High School Diploma, with a CACHE Level 3 qualification or equivalent preferred. Relevant and recent experience in a classroom or 1:1 setting is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building a supportive relationship with the assigned pupil.
  • Gaining a thorough understanding of the pupil's specific needs by working collaboratively with staff and participating in professional development as directed.
  • Assisting with in-class learning and social interactions as necessary, under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • Monitoring the student’s progress on tasks or subjects, and when appropriate, stepping back to redirect attention to other students or tasks to encourage greater independence.
  • Working with teachers to understand lesson planning and assist in modifying resources as needed.
  • Providing additional personalized support to the student outside of the classroom as directed by the class teacher or Oasis Link.
  • Tracking pupil progress against IEP targets and offering feedback to the class teacher and Oasis Link.
  • Carrying out break duties.
  • Attending staff meetings as requested.
  • Participating in field trips when necessary.
  • Assisting the Oasis department or relevant year group with cover and/or administrative tasks in the event that the student is absent or unavailable (e.g., attending an appointment).
  • Following all school and authority policies and procedures.
  • Being adaptable to changing circumstances and guidelines.
  • Performing other related tasks as required.
