About This Role

Thomas Tallis is a flourishing and popular school situated in the Royal Borough of Greenwich. We currently have over 2000 pupils on the school roll with around 700 students in our highly competitive sixth form. We strive for excellence in all that we do, underpinned by our vision of education to understand the world and change it for the better.

We are looking for a Deputy Headteacher to take responsibility for all aspects of inclusion and belonging in this large, liberal and vibrant comprehensive school. The post includes strategic leadership of inclusion, attendance and behaviour, as well as a central role in advancing equality, diversity and inclusion across the school. You will lead expert colleagues across the leadership team and work closely with those responsible for safeguarding, curriculum and assessment to ensure that every young person is known, supported and able to succeed.

You will need to be strategic and systematic as well as absolutely reliable and effective. Our young people come from the widest range of backgrounds and we pride ourselves on humanity, sensitivity and professional skill in meeting their needs. All aspects of the post are already good or outstanding, but we know that we can improve further. You will be critically as well as emotionally intelligent, with exceptional interpersonal skills, and able to lead with clarity, integrity and kindness.

You will already be an outstanding teacher and senior leader with significant experience of inclusion, behaviour and pastoral systems, ideally in a large and complex school. You will have a strong commitment to equality and to developing humane and effective systems that enable all students to thrive.

We can offer you:

children and young people who are eager to learn and progress
staff who are supportive, committed to their own professional development and to improving outcomes for students
an excellent physical environment with state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure
a school with humane management principles committed to your professional development

If you are passionate about ensuring that every young person feels known, valued and included, and about creating a safe and supportive environment in which all can succeed, we want to hear from you.
