About This Role

Houlton School offers an exciting opportunity for a Teacher of Science to join our thriving institution. You will become part of a dedicated team of educators and support staff who are focused on delivering an exceptional experience for every student.

We seek an outstanding practitioner who has the capability to inspire, motivate, challenge, and support students to achieve remarkable progress. We invite applications from all science specialists who can teach science at KS3/4 and, ideally, their core science specialty at KS5.

We encourage applications from educators at all levels of their career, including Early Career Teachers (ECTs) as well as those with more experience. No matter your background, you will be welcomed into a passionate team of teachers dedicated to presenting science in engaging and inspiring formats.

At Houlton School, we prioritize ensuring that all staff feel valued, heard, and well-supported, with numerous professional development opportunities available. This is an excellent opening for individuals with a genuine enthusiasm for teaching who can inspire and engage their students.

Why choose Houlton?

- We are a nurturing school situated on a 20-acre green-field campus, small enough to know every student's name and story, yet expansive enough to provide a diverse curriculum, including our new Sixth Form set to launch in September 2026.
- You will be part of a community of dedicated colleagues who genuinely support one another.
- Our staff well-being team implements various initiatives to enhance staff engagement, including activities, events, conferences, and many additional benefits.
- There are outstanding opportunities for personal and professional growth within the successful and expanding Transforming Lives Educational Trust, a developing Multi-academy Trust embedded in the local community.

At Houlton School, we hold our students to the highest standards: excellence in behavior and attitudes is expected, and students are encouraged to always strive for their best. We promote our values and support students in every aspect of school life, providing them with the finest teachers, facilities, and opportunities to discover their talents.

We are privileged to occupy an exceptional campus, featuring Grade II listed buildings that once housed Rugby International Radio Station. While some established schools may benefit from refreshed facilities in a few areas, our students enjoy state-of-the-art resources alongside stunning heritage buildings across the entire curriculum.
