We are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic Portuguese Teacher to join our team in August 2026.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide engaging and effective instruction in Portuguese language and literature, in alignment with the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and other international curricula.
  • Design and execute dynamic lessons that cater to a range of learning needs, employing modern teaching strategies and technology.
  • Evaluate student progress through formative and summative assessments, ensuring high academic standards are maintained.
  • Offer pastoral care, promoting student well-being and working collaboratively with the school’s well-being team.
  • Encourage student involvement in extracurricular activities, cultural events, and language-centered projects.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and initiatives aimed at school improvement.
  • Uphold a positive classroom environment with high expectations for behavior and discipline.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and support professional development goals.
  • Maintain regular communication with parents and stakeholders about student progress.
  • Stay updated on educational advancements and engage in continuous professional learning.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A relevant degree in Portuguese Language, Literature, or a related field, along with a valid teaching qualification.
  • Experience teaching Portuguese at the secondary level, ideally with knowledge of the IB curriculum (IBDP) or other international programs.
  • The ability to inspire and engage students, cultivating a passion for language and culture.
  • Strong skills in differentiating instruction for diverse learners.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Experience incorporating technology and innovative teaching methods to enhance learning.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding and student welfare practices.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
