About This Role
Runnymede College, a private and non-denominational British school situated in Madrid, is committed to offering a British education to students from various nationalities, aged two to eighteen. Our curriculum is aligned with the British National Curriculum.
Founded as a private school in September 1967, our primary division commenced in 1987, and since 1990, the entire institution has been located in La Moraleja, in northern Madrid. The school is organized into three sections: Pre-Prep (Pre Nursery to Year 3), Prep (Years 4 to 8), and Senior School (Years 9 to 13).
Runnymede College is known for its high academic achievements. In June 2025, 57% of our students earned A-A* grades at A level, significantly exceeding the 48% of A*-A grades achieved by independent schools in England this year. Moreover, 67% of our students attained A*-A grades at IGCSE, again surpassing the 48% A*-A grades at GCSE within the English independent school sector.
Among the graduating class of 2025, 83% of students heading to the UK will be enrolling in Top 10 universities, as recognized by the Sunday Times Good University Guide. Prestigious institutions such as Oxford, Cambridge, Imperial, UCL, and LSE are among those welcoming this year’s graduates. Students aiming for higher education in the US have begun their studies at elite colleges including Harvard, Columbia, UPenn, and Brown.
Several students will continue their education in Spain at esteemed institutions like ICADE, IE, and ICAI, while others will pursue studies at leading universities across Europe in countries such as France and Ireland.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess:
- a good honours degree from a British University
- a PGCE or equivalent qualified teacher status in English
- strong collaborative skills and a readiness to share in planning and resources
- the ability to tailor learning approaches to suit individual student needs
- high expectations for student effort and behavior, backed by proven classroom management skills
- the organizational capabilities to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines
- motivation and initiative to contribute to the department's achievements
- native-level proficiency in English
- a solid understanding of ICT systems and their use in the classroom
Preferred Criteria
Preferred, though not mandatory criteria include:
- prior experience in an international school environment
- recent teaching experience in a UK school
