With an increase in student enrollment, we are excited to announce new openings for Secondary teachers starting in August 2026. We currently have an immediate vacancy for:
Teacher of Design
Job Overview:
•
Provide dynamic instruction across diverse fields within Design and Technology, such as Product Design and Digital Design (ideally in both MYP and DP contexts), employing inquiry- and concept-based strategies that promote both creative and analytical skills.
•
Create and execute learning experiences that integrate design thinking, sustainability, and innovation, in line with the IB Learner Profile and global contexts.
•
Manage the safe and effective use of tools, machinery, and materials in design studios and workshops, adhering to applicable health and safety regulations while promoting best practices among students.
•
Remain current on safety standards and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with all necessary regulations in educational spaces.
•
Participate in the ongoing enhancement of the MYP and DP Design curriculum, engaging in collaborative planning to maintain coherence across programs.
•
Act as a tutor for a specified year group in Secondary School (Year 7 - 13).
The Design Faculty at the British School Jakarta is a vibrant and well-appointed hub of creativity, innovation, and technical expertise. Our newly upgraded facilities include three fully equipped workshops with state-of-the-art equipment, a specialized robotics room, and a modern 3D printing suite featuring six high-end Ultimaker printers, all housed in a temperature- and humidity-controlled environment.
In addition, the faculty boasts a complete Mac desktop suite and a collection of MacBook Pros, providing students with continuous access to industry-standard software and digital design tools. Our team is supported by two full-time, highly skilled technicians and a dedicated technician preparation area, facilitating the smooth execution of practical lessons and project work.
Moreover, our specialized Computer Science teaching room enhances the synergy of design, engineering, and technology. The department offers an exciting blend of traditional and modern facilities, a collaborative team environment, and enthusiastic, creative students, making it an exceptional setting for an innovative leader eager to shape the next phase of BSJ’s design and innovation journey.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate:

A minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience aligned with the qualifications for this role
