About This Role

ROLE SUMMARY:

King’s College School, Cascais (KCC), part of the Inspired Education Group, is seeking a committed and experienced Residential Primary Deputy – Head of Boarding to join the leadership team for the KCC Summer Camp, scheduled from 24 June to 25 July 2025.

This senior residential leadership role will report directly to the Summer Camp Director and is tasked with ensuring the pastoral care, safety, and well-being of both boarding and day students throughout the camp. Responsibilities encompass managing boarding routines, overseeing health and first aid, facilitating communication with families, supervising staff, and coordinating logistics for arrivals, departures, and excursions.

The Residential Primary Deputy – Head of Boarding will work closely with the Camp Director and Boarding Coordinator to ensure all boarding, safeguarding, and welfare protocols are consistently followed. In the absence of the Camp Director, this individual may take on their responsibilities. As this is a residential position, accommodation, meals, and accident insurance will be provided on-site. The role requires evening work, late shifts, and overnight duties on a rotational basis.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead the pastoral care for both boarding and day students, ensuring their safety, well-being, and proper behavior.
  • Ensure compliance with all boarding and school procedures, including routines, medication management, and night protocols.
  • Oversee first aid and health-related matters in collaboration with the Camp Director and nurse.
  • Serve as the emergency contact and respond to incidents, fire alarms, or safeguarding issues as necessary.
  • Maintain communication with families and manage sensitive welfare concerns.
  • Supervise student records, medical forms, consent documents, and daily boarding logs.
  • Assist with staff supervision and help plan duty schedules.
  • Organize and oversee arrivals, departures, airport transfers, and excursions.
  • Safeguard students' valuables, passports, and pocket money.
  • Support evening activities, final exhibitions, and overall camp operations.
  • Attend coordination meetings, training sessions, and safeguarding workshops.
  • Step in as Camp Director when required in the absence of the Director.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • Advanced or Proficiency level English skills (C1–C2).
  • Experience providing pastoral care and supervision for children in residential or camp environments.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills, capable of managing routines, documentation, and staff schedules.
  • A calm and responsible demeanor in handling emergency situations.
  • Experience in communicating with families and addressing sensitive welfare issues.
  • Ability to supervise staff and ensure compliance with procedures.
  • Excellent teamwork abilities, with a talent for collaborating with senior camp leadership.
  • High standards of personal hygiene, appearance, and professional conduct.
  • Valid authorization to work within the EU.
  • Capacity to present a criminal record certificate issued within the last three months.
  • A CV with a photograph, scanned copies of degrees and certificates, and two written references.

Compensation
