Job Description

- Deliver the prescribed curriculum with a thorough and current understanding of the subject matter.
- Plan and execute high-quality lessons to inspire students. Create and use suitable materials and classroom settings to accommodate various learning styles.
- Provide written evidence of planning and preparation upon request. Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, and assessment strategies.
- Consistently adhere to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct.
- Instruct assigned students according to their unique needs, employing appropriate teaching strategies that address diverse abilities, including late-arriving students, ESL learners, and those with varying academic levels, including gifted and talented individuals.
- Assign and evaluate student work. Assess, document, and report on students' academic development, progress, and achievements, utilizing assessments to tailor the curriculum to individual needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of media and technology within the classroom.
- Foster the overall progress and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational matters.
- Communicate with external parties when necessary (e.g., Ministry of Education officials).
- Engage in performance appraisal and management processes, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Collaborate with colleagues in the preparation and development of teaching materials, resources, curricula, and pastoral arrangements.
- Participate in, and take the lead when appropriate, in the school's co-curricular and extra-curricular programs. Foster good working relationships through active leadership and sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.
- Monitor and manage student behavior, ensuring safety and appropriateness. Develop and implement strategies to encourage self-discipline and address disruptive behavior.
- Model cultural awareness and understanding, promoting a passion for learning.
- Assist in planning and organizing school events and functions (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days).
- Regularly communicate with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents informed of students' progress while upholding the confidentiality of student-related information.
- Demonstrate initiative and commitment beyond standard working hours as necessary.
- Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required.
- Carry out additional duties as requested by direct and dotted reporting line managers/supervisors.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient ICT skills.
- Excellent time management abilities.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- IELTS Academic score of 7.
- A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in reputable schools, specifically in the subject area.
