About This Role

GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to become a part of our Middle/High School team, with a start date of 01 August 2026.

Key Responsibilities include:
- Upholding and promoting the standards of excellence outlined in the GEMS Core Values.
- Delivering the prescribed curriculum while showcasing current and in-depth knowledge of both curriculum and subject matter.
- Planning and executing engaging lessons that inspire students.
- Developing and utilizing suitable materials and classroom settings to accommodate various learning styles.
- Providing written evidence of lesson planning and preparation upon request.
- Maintaining comprehensive records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans, and more.
- Adhering to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Instructing students as per their individual needs, employing appropriate teaching strategies for different learners, including late entrants, ESL, students with lower academic abilities, and those who are gifted and talented.
- Assigning and grading work.
- Assessing, documenting, and reporting on students' academic progress and achievements, and utilizing assessments to tailor the curriculum to meet individual needs.
- Demonstrating proficiency in the use of media and technology within the classroom.
- Supporting the overall progress and well-being of students and offering guidance on educational matters.
- Engaging with external stakeholders when necessary (e.g., Ministry of Education officials).
- Participating in appraisal and Performance Management processes, as well as Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Collaborating with colleagues on the creation and development of teaching materials, resources, courses of study, and pastoral care systems.
- Taking part in, and leading when suitable, the school's co-curricular and extra-curricular programs.
- Fostering positive working relationships through active leadership and the sharing of ideas, materials, and experiences.
- Monitoring and overseeing safe and appropriate student conduct.
- Planning and executing strategies to promote self-discipline and manage disruptive behaviors.
- Exemplifying and encouraging cultural awareness and understanding while instilling a love for learning.
- Assisting in the organization and planning of school events and functions (e.g., inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, prize days, etc.).
- Regularly communicating with parents to promote the GEMS philosophy and core values, while keeping them informed about their children's progress, all while respecting confidentiality regarding student information.
- Demonstrating initiative and commitment beyond the standard workday when tasks require additional effort.
- Attending staff meetings and participating in committees as necessary.
- Carrying out other responsibilities as assigned by immediate and indirect reporting line managers/supervisors.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
*Estimated range based on regional data averages.
