About This Role
The School Director is responsible for overseeing and managing all academic functions and activities within the School. This role involves ensuring compliance with educational systems mandated by the government, as well as adhering to associated laws in line with school policies and its philosophical framework. The School Director handles all academic-related responsibilities and other duties outlined in the Private School Act.
Key Responsibilities:
Education
- Ensure strict adherence to Thai law, the Thailand Education Act for Private Schools, and Sor Mor Sor, tailored to the context of an international school.
- Keep all documentation, including the bi-laws of SISB, current and accurate.
- Conduct annual reviews of all documentation and ensure the managing director is promptly informed of any significant updates.
- Verify that the allocated time for teaching Thai and/or Thai culture meets the Ministry of Education's requirements.
- Attend necessary meetings with the Ministry of Education.
- Represent the school at ONESQA meetings.
School Outings and Field Trips
- Approve all school outings and field trips well in advance.
- Convene with involved staff (teachers, drivers, nurses, etc.) prior to any outing or trip to ensure everyone is informed about the plans and expectations.
- Maintain effective communication with the school during any outings or field trips.
Governing and Administering Teachers & Educational Personnel
- Appoint and dismiss teachers, educational personnel, and school officers in accordance with the School Board's regulations.
- Oversee and manage the teachers, educational personnel, and students at the School.
- Ensure all staff comply with Thai legal requirements regarding visas and work permits.
- Maintain a register of teachers, educational personnel, officers, and students, along with other educational documentation as mandated by the School Board.
- Prepare evidence related to educational assessment and evaluation in accordance with the School Board's guidelines.
Legal and Governmental Matters Related to New Building
- Advise the managing director on all local legal obligations and regulations related to the new building and ensure compliance.
- Monitor the number of classrooms and students as required by law.
Senior Management
- Participate in meetings and provide counsel to the Senior Management Team.
- Engage in resolving any issues related to the School's operations and activities.
- Prepare necessary reports and offer assistance to the Senior Management Team as needed.
- Oversee and fulfill other academic responsibilities in alignment with the School Charter, policies, and regulations.
- Carry out additional duties specified under the Private School Act.
