About This Role

Job Purpose


To fulfill the professional obligations of a teacher while adhering to the policies and procedures of the school, delivering outstanding instruction and assessment aimed at improving learning outcomes, student involvement, and overall success for all learners.

Role and Responsibilities


Lesson Planning, Teaching, and Learning


Create and implement high-quality teaching and learning that aligns with the school's Teaching and Learning Policy by:


Fostering a positive educational environment that promotes excellent teaching practices;


Establishing and communicating clear learning goals;


Identifying students with special educational needs (SEN), English as an Additional Language (EAL), and Gifted and Talented (G&T) needs, ensuring that their individual requirements are met through tailored and personalized learning strategies;


Providing structured lesson plans and activities that encourage engagement, challenge, and an appropriate pace of learning;


Effectively utilizing assessment for learning;


Using performance data and key indicators to inform lesson planning and deliver differentiated instruction;


Incorporating technology in a meaningful way to enhance student learning and progress.


Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school’s Behaviour for Learning Policy, while promoting best practices regarding punctuality, behavior, uniform standards, quality of work, and completion of homework;


Assessment, Recording, Reporting


Assess the achievement of learning objectives and utilize the results to improve specific teaching and learning components;


Regularly evaluate and mark student assignments, establishing progress targets in line with the school’s Marking & Feedback Policy;


Systematically assess and document student progress, using performance data to inform planning and support student learning and development;


Prepare and present informative reports to parents following the Report Writing Guidelines;


Participate in and support events for parents and students.


Curriculum Development


Contribute to IB/subject development by creating, reviewing, and enhancing innovative and engaging curriculum plans and units of study;


Keep up-to-date with subject knowledge through ongoing professional development and reading.


Professional Duties and Responsibilities


Recognize the unique potential in each child and strive to uphold the vision, mission, and core values of Dwight in all aspects of the role.


Serve as a PYP Exhibition Supervisor, if necessary.


Undertake responsibilities as part of the staff duty schedule and provide coverage for absent colleagues.


Supervise examinations and assessments as required.


Engage in relevant training and professional development related to the position.


Support school events and activities, including the ECA program.


Actively collaborate within the Dwight and IB community, building strong partnerships with all stakeholders, as well as the local and wider community.


Carry out any additional reasonable duties and extended hours as assigned by the Head of School or designated line manager.

Compensation

£30,000 - £45,000+ (Regional Equivalent)
