About This Role
GEMS Cambridge International School, Abu Dhabi is seeking enthusiastic Primary Teachers to become part of our vibrant school community starting in August 2026. Overall Function and Purpose:
To educate and teach students in accordance with guidelines established by the National Curriculum Framework under the supervision of the appropriate educational authority. You will assess and teach assigned students based on their educational needs, ensuring the delivery of the relevant curriculum so that each student achieves academic excellence. You will also contribute to the broader school community.
Main Responsibilities:
- Deliver the mandated curriculum with a solid understanding of the subject matter and current educational practices.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment that promotes optimal student outcomes.
- Plan, prepare, and present lessons tailored to the diverse abilities of all students in the class.
- Teach based on the educational requirements, capabilities, and achievements of individual students and groups.
- Engage in the implementation of the school's development plan.
- Assign, correct, and evaluate students' work in alignment with the school’s marking policy.
- Set high expectations for every child in the class and support learners in reaching their potential, ensuring high-quality standards in their work.
- Assess, document, and report on students’ progress, development, attainment, and behavior.
- Utilize data analysis to adjust classroom practices to help all learners achieve their maximum potential.
- Contribute to oral and written assessments, reports, and references for individual students or groups.
- Participate in student performance appraisals within an agreed national framework.
- Foster the overall progress and well-being of individual students, groups, or classes assigned to you.
- Provide guidance and advice to students regarding educational and social matters, as well as their future education and goals.
- Collaborate and communicate with fellow staff members, including those in specialized roles, as well as parents and guardians.
- Reflect on and evaluate your teaching strategies, methodologies, and programs in accordance with National Curriculum Framework guidelines to enhance classroom learning.
- Advise and collaborate with the Head of School, Deputy Heads, Assistant Head Teachers, Heads of Years, and other educators in the curriculum design, teaching materials, teaching programs, assessment methods, and pastoral care approaches.
- Uphold high standards of professional practice and teaching quality. Engage in peer reviews and observations of teaching practices with the Head of Year.
- Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) and action research initiatives.
- Maintain discipline and order among students, ensuring their health and safety at all times.
- Report any concerns that may compromise a student's safety, whether emotional or physical, to the school's safeguarding officer.
- Attend staff, group, or other meetings related to the school curriculum or pastoral care for better organization and administration.
- Contribute to the professional growth of new teachers and student teachers as agreed with the Head of School.
- Provide essential information and guidance to designated personnel within the school regarding requisitions and arrangements for your assigned subjects.
- Ensure the proper care and optimal use of equipment typically utilized during lessons, including regular servicing and maintenance.
- Safeguard the custody of the laptop, whiteboard pen, and remote provided at the start of the term.
- Attend school assemblies and parent meetings as directed.
