About This Role

The school is seeking to hire a qualified and enthusiastic Classroom Teacher with Key Stage Lead responsibilities for Key Stage 1, starting in August 2025.

ABOUT THE ROLE:
- To implement a comprehensive and relevant curriculum that enhances pupils’ knowledge, understanding, and skills.
- To ensure the curriculum meets the specific needs of the territory.
- To collaborate with other Key Stage Leads and the Deputy Head Academic to optimize cross-curricular teaching opportunities.
- To work with the Deputy Head Pastoral on the implementation of the PSHE and pastoral curriculum.
- To take a proactive role in safeguarding for the designated Key Stage, partnering with the Deputy Head Pastoral to uphold Brighton College (Singapore)’s commitment to best practice in safeguarding.
- To lead the teaching and learning initiatives for the assigned Key Stage.
- To coordinate with the Head of EAL and Head of PCP to ensure appropriate support is provided for diverse groups of learners.
- To share successful teaching strategies within the Key Stage.
- To promote consistency in marking and feedback in alignment with the school-wide policy.
- To ensure that thorough planning is executed for all year groups.
- To manage and oversee setting as necessary.
- To cultivate and maintain strong relationships with Key Stage leads in the Pre-Prep, Prep, and Senior School, as well as with the Brighton College International network.
- To advocate for digital learning within the department.
- To develop a departmental enrichment program, including challenge weeks, academic competitions, guest speakers, and educational excursions.
- To ensure the department actively supports pupils’ physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Assessment and Reporting:
- To design, share, and manage departmental mark books.
- To arrange termly moderation and book look sessions.
- To create, administer, and oversee year group assessments.
- To analyze termly and annual data at the school-wide, cohort, and class levels, and formulate an action plan based on findings.
- To track the progress and value-added data of specific student groups, such as those with SEN, EAL, and G&T.
- To utilize assessment data to guide future learning, planning, and curriculum development.
- To assess the effectiveness of data and evaluate attainment, progress, and value-added measures for all pupils.
- To collaborate with the Deputy Head Academic regarding admissions, particularly concerning admissions tests.

Professional Development:
- To stay informed about new educational initiatives and disseminate this information to staff.
- To foster innovation within the Key Stage, ensuring Brighton College (Singapore) exemplifies a best practice approach.
- To engage in regular learning walks.
- To participate in cluster group meetings across the BCI network.
- To lead sessions during INSET and staff meetings, sharing updates and achievements.
- To conduct sessions for parents as required.
- To engage in the appraisal process as dictated by the Prep School SLT.

Administration:
- To prepare and manage a departmental budget for acquiring and replenishing digital and physical educational resources, stationery, and professional development materials.
- To oversee the implementation of internal and external assessments according to the assessment schedule.
- To convene and lead regular Key Stage meetings, developing agendas and sharing minutes with the Pre-Prep/Prep school SLT.
- To manage a shared site on the staff online platform (e.g., SharePoint/Teams) where all documentation, planning, and resources are accessible.
- To uphold information and recommendations from Cognita/BCI reviews and learning walks, leading suggested improvements guided by the Pre-Prep/Prep school SLT.
- To contribute to marketing materials as requested by the Pre-Prep/Prep School SLT.
- To oversee classroom and Key Stage displays as directed by the Pre-Prep/Prep School SLT.
- To prepare documentation for inspections, including:
- Key Stage handbook/homework policy
- Key Stage development plan
- Key Stage curriculum overview
- Key Stage assessment and reporting overview for stakeholders
- Data analysis and narratives, including monitoring progress and value-added data for specific student groups (e.g., SEN, EAL, G&T).
- Key Stage meeting agendas, actions, and minutes.
