THE ACADEMY
GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a prestigious private, co-educational IB World School serving students from PreK through Grade 12. Founded in 2008 and part of the GEMS Education network, we are authorized to deliver the PYP, MYP, DP, and CP programs and are accredited by the Council of International Schools and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).

THE ROLE
Our EAL department has played a crucial role in enhancing student success and fostering a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. This success stems from the staff's commitment, exceptional subject knowledge, and the department's innovative approach to data and curriculum development. The EAL department is highly regarded by our students for the attentive and personalized support it offers.
We invite applications from passionate Secondary EAL educators who align with GEMS World Academy’s mission to inspire a love for learning, with positions available starting August 2026.
SKILLS
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of effective teaching and helping students achieve their goals. While experience with the IB Middle Years Programmes and Diploma Programmes is preferred, we encourage outstanding educators from any curriculum background to apply. A commitment to the IB philosophy and the values of the Learner Profile is essential, as is a genuine enthusiasm for engaging with a diverse and non-selective community. Additional requirements include:
- A Bachelor of Education degree, or an initial degree paired with a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent specialization in EAL
- Advanced qualifications are preferred but not mandatory
- A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Secondary EAL, ideally within an IB curriculum context, though this is not a strict requirement
- A solid understanding of the IB MYP/DP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred
- A strong desire to improve their practice and provide exceptional teaching and learning experiences for students
- The experience, character, and educational philosophy compatible with a leading IB World School like GEMS World Academy
- Availability starting August 2026
