About This Role

Anton Bruckner International School is seeking a talented, flexible, and committed MYP English and I&S Teacher to start in September 2026. The successful applicant will be qualified to teach English and I&S to a diverse group of multilingual students aged 10 to 18.

Subject teachers are integral to achieving the School’s Mission and Vision. This role requires a deep understanding of both the academic and pastoral needs of students. Team collaboration is crucial.

Skills and Qualifications

• A degree in English or Humanities (Master’s degree preferred)

• A recognized teaching qualification from your home country

• A minimum of two years of teaching experience

• Familiarity with IB MYP English and/or IB MYP I&S instruction

• Commitment to continuous professional development in IB and other areas

• Willingness to support the school’s growth, including its staff and student community

• Capacity to demonstrate differentiated and scaffolded lesson planning and curriculum development

• Valuable experience in an international school setting

• Commitment to diversity and inclusion, with adaptability in teaching methodologies

• A sense of humor!

Specific Responsibilities

Area 1: Planning and Preparation

The teacher will:

• Demonstrate a thorough understanding of subject matter content.

• Effectively leverage available resources and materials, including technology.

• Create engaging lessons, units, and differentiation strategies tailored to individual student needs.

• Develop learning experiences that challenge students, accommodate diverse learners, and reflect a strong commitment to concept-based education.

• Collaborate on planning for student learning.

Area 2: Teaching, Learning, and Assessing

The teacher will:

• Deliver age-appropriate, subject-appropriate curriculum using a variety of balanced teaching strategies.

• Maintain high expectations for student achievement, building on their prior knowledge and experiences.

• Integrate IB teaching methodologies into classroom practices to promote inquiry-based, concept-driven units and lessons.

• Develop strategies that actively support the IB Learner Profile.

• Utilize a range of assessment tools and reporting methods to monitor student progress.

• Provide regular, timely, clear, and constructive feedback to enhance student learning.

• Address the needs of students who may struggle with the language of instruction.

• Foster student engagement in their own learning journey.

• Inspire students to become creative and critical thinkers.

• Offer frequent opportunities for self-reflection on their learning.

• Implement a blend of formative and summative assessment strategies to inform and adapt teaching practices.

• Exhibit qualities such as patience, empathy, and authentic concern for students.

Area 3: Learning Environment

The teacher will:

• Establish a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment for students.

• Collaborate effectively with all members of the school community.

• Exhibit proficient classroom management that addresses the academic, social, and emotional aspects of learning.

• Efficiently manage classroom routines and procedures.

• Apply positive behavior management strategies.

• Identify and address potential behavioral issues.

Area 4: Professional Responsibilities

The teacher will:

• Reflect on the effectiveness of their teaching methods.

• Participate in collaborative team planning.

• Communicate clearly and effectively with all relevant stakeholders.

• Build professional and constructive relationships with parents, staff, and students.

• Keep parents updated about their children’s learning and proactively communicate with them.

• Maintain accurate records using school platforms.

• Stay informed about pedagogical advancements that can enhance student learning.

• Contribute to the school’s development and continual progress.

• Assist the school in various ways, including supervising duties, teaching assigned classes, and supporting students with Personal Projects, Service as Action, Homeroom responsibilities, etc.

• Show a commitment to ongoing professional growth.

• Attend pre-school year development meetings.

• Coordinate with the learning support department regarding students who may require additional assistance or are facing academic challenges.

• Notify the school counselor and/or Senior Leadership Team if a student is identified as at-risk.

• Communicate any changes in students' behavior or welfare as necessary.

General

The teacher will:

• Support community and school-related initiatives to enhance school life.

• Assist with other activities or responsibilities as deemed appropriate by the School Principal, within the scope of the teacher's duties.
