THE ACADEMY

GEMS World Academy–Dubai (GWA) is a distinguished private co-educational IB World School that educates students from PreK through Grade 12. THE ROLE

Our Economics department has made remarkable strides in enhancing student outcomes and cultivating a passion for learning at GEMS World Academy. The Economics department is well-regarded among students for the personalized and attentive support it offers.

We welcome enthusiastic Economics educators who believe their skills, experience, and values align with GEMS World Academy’s mission to inspire a love for learning to apply. Positions are available starting August 2026.

SKILLS

The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record of effective teaching and facilitating student success. Experience with the IB Middle Years Programme & Diploma Programme is preferred, however, outstanding educators from diverse curricular backgrounds are encouraged to apply. A strong alignment with the IB philosophy and a commitment to the values of the Learner Profile are critical. Additionally, a genuine passion for working in a non-selective, culturally diverse environment is essential. Candidates should also have:

  • A Bachelor of Education degree or an initial degree coupled with a relevant teaching qualification such as a PGCE, PGDE, or equivalent specialization in Economics.
  • Advanced qualifications are beneficial but not required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience teaching Secondary Economics, ideally within an IB setting, though this is not a strict prerequisite.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching Economics.
  • A solid understanding of the IB MYP & DP framework and Approaches to Teaching is preferred.
  • A strong desire to continuously improve their teaching methods and provide outstanding learning experiences for students.
  • The experience, personality, and educational philosophy that are in harmony with a leading IB World School like GEMS World Academy.
  • Availability starting August 2026.
