Key Responsibilities:

• Lead, develop, and manage the effective execution of the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) at GEMS International School, ensuring full adherence to IB philosophy, Programme Standards & Practices, and the school’s overall strategic vision.
• Support and guide educators in planning and delivering high-quality, inquiry-based, concept-driven learning, fostering consistency, rigor, and progress across all MYP subject areas.
• Ensure seamless vertical and horizontal curriculum alignment within the MYP and the broader IB continuum, facilitating smooth transitions between PYP, MYP, and DP.
• Coordinate and monitor MYP assessment practices, including standardization, moderation, and reporting, to guarantee clarity, fairness, and consistency for students and their families.
• Advocate for inclusive teaching and learning practices throughout the programme, ensuring effective differentiation to cater to the needs of a diverse international student population, including EAL learners, gifted students, and those requiring additional support.
• Lead the utilization of assessment data and programme-level evidence to track student progress, inform interventions, and promote continuous enhancement throughout the MYP.
• Oversee essential MYP elements, such as Approaches to Learning (ATL), Service as Action, interdisciplinary learning, and the MYP Personal Project, ensuring robust implementation and compliance with IB standards.
• Collaborate closely with the Principal, senior leadership, Heads of Department, and pastoral teams to support whole-school priorities and ensure coherence across academic and pastoral services.
• Plan and facilitate professional development to enhance staff capabilities and confidence in MYP teaching, learning, and assessment, supporting both seasoned and novice IB educators.
• Engage proactively with parents and the wider school community to communicate the MYP philosophy, curriculum structure, and assessment methods.
• Contribute to the broader life of the school through academic enrichment initiatives, events, and co-curricular opportunities that enrich the MYP learner experience.
• Model and uphold GEMS values and the IB Learner Profile, promoting reflective practices, professional growth, and a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
