About This Role
GEMS American Academy in Qatar is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to become a part of our Middle/High School team. The anticipated start date for this position is 01 August 2026.
Key Responsibilities include:

- Deliver the mandated curriculum while showcasing a thorough and current understanding of the subject matter.
- Design and implement engaging lessons that inspire students. Develop and utilize suitable materials and classroom settings to accommodate various learning styles.
- Provide written documentation of planning and preparation when requested. Maintain comprehensive records of curriculum and yearly plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment strategies, and more.
- Ensure adherence to GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct at all times.
- Instruct assigned students according to their unique needs, employing effective teaching methods that cater to diverse learning profiles, including late-entry students, ESL learners, those with lower academic abilities, and gifted students.
- Assign and evaluate student work. Assess, document, and report on students' academic growth, progress, and achievement, using assessments to tailor the curriculum to meet individual student needs.
- Demonstrate proficiency in the use of technology and media within the classroom.
- Support the overall development and well-being of students, offering guidance on educational matters.
- Communicate with external stakeholders as appropriate, such as Ministry of Education representatives.
- Engage in appraisal and Performance Management processes and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Collaborate with colleagues in the preparation and development of teaching resources, course content, and pastoral care arrangements.
- Take part in, and lead when necessary, the school's co-curricular and extracurricular programs. Foster positive working relationships through proactive leadership and the sharing of ideas, resources, and experiences.
- Monitor and oversee student behavior to ensure it is safe and appropriate. Develop and implement strategies to promote self-discipline and manage any disruptive conduct.
- Model and foster cultural awareness and understanding while encouraging a passion for learning.
- Assist in organizing and planning school events and activities, such as inter-house competitions, concerts, school plays, and award ceremonies.
- Regularly communicate with parents, promoting the GEMS philosophy and core values; keep parents informed about their children's progress while maintaining the confidentiality of student information.
- Show initiative and dedication beyond the standard work hours when tasks demand extra commitment.
- Attend staff meetings and participate in committees as needed.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned by direct and dotted line managers or supervisors.
